As Christians, sometimes it can seem difficult for us to explain the Gospel – the message about God’s love and what Jesus did for us on the cross. There are several resources that can help you share the Gospel easily, including some great apps. Just install the apps on your phone to have them handy the next time you’re in a faith conversation!
Start With Sharing Your Faith Story
We believe that sharing your faith story is the most effective way to start sharing the Gospel. Once you’ve shared how God has changed your life, it’s natural to transition into explaining the Gospel and how it can change their life, too.

We’ll share a few options here, but feel free to continue researching until you find an explanation that YOU feel comfortable sharing. The most effective approach is any way you can share God’s love confidently and authentically.
5 Apps to Help Explain the Gospel
The Voke app has several videos that inspire people to explore faith. Videos range in topics from loneliness, the Old Testament, to addiction. Falling Plates, for example, is a compelling video that explains the Gospel clearly and memorably. After watching the video, ask for their perspective and continue the faith conversation. Get the app and share some videos with people you think may be curious to learn more.
The Voke app also has Adventures, which are learning series you can take alone or invite another person to take alongside you. They discuss questions such as “Is God good?” “Would I have liked Jesus?” and “Are Christians Hypocrites?”
Watching, learning, and discussing alongside another person is a great way to build relationships and show God’s love.
Life Conversations app has a succinct way of sharing the Gospel. You can scroll through their illustrations and talk through each step, or they have summaries for each step as well. Plus, the app includes a short (under 3 minute) video explaining the Gospel.
Share Your Faith app has illustrations to help you walk through an easy-to-understand explanation of the Gospel. If you forget what to say, you can just slide up on the screen and it will show keywords that will help keep the conversation going. It also gives options for more information & relevant Bible verses every step of the way.
GodTools, developed by Cru (formerly Campus Crusade) has a variety of tools we can use for both sharing the Gospel and also growing our own faith. This app has tools such as “Knowing God Personally” and “The Four” that you can walk through with another person.
YouVersion Bible App has been installed on almost 400 million devices, and it has Bible translations available in over 1,300 languages! While there is no Gospel explanation on the Bible app, you can use a couple Bible verses that clearly explain the Gospel.
Two Bible Verses that Explain the Gospel
If you want to use the Bible app to share the Gospel, John 3:16 is a simple place to start since it is so well known. You may already have it memorized:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
You can share this verse and explain that God has done two very important things: He has loved and He gave. He loves us so much that He gave Jesus to die in our place for our sin. He rescued us from our brokenness!
We just need to do one thing: believe, and we receive the gift of eternal life. This is the life God desires for us!
God wants us to have a life filled with love, acceptance, forgiveness, and purpose! He is ready to be our hope and our help.
Romans 6:23 is another succinct explanation of the Gospel from the Bible:
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Without God, our sin leads us toward death. Have you ever felt far away from God? This is just one example of what sin does: It separates us from God. Sin causes a separation between us and God. Sin leads to brokenness – the brokenness we see in our own lives and all around us.
BUT! God doesn’t want it that way. He loves us and desires to be in relationship with us. He wants the very best for us!
He has given us a gift, through Jesus, and that gift is the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus died on the cross so our sins don’t have to separate us anymore. When we accept that gift, we get eternal life with God.

What Defines Success?
Remember: Any time we share our faith and show God’s love, it’s a success. Success isn’t making someone believe – we can’t do that, anyway! Success means we’ve stepped out on faith, loved someone with the love of Jesus, and we trust the results to God.
We encourage you to try some of these apps, see what feels comfortable for you, and start having some faith conversations!
