Today on the Everyday Faith podcast, we have a special guest: our new friend, Brady Combs. Brady is a life coach who used to be an atheist. On his journey to faith, he went from atheist to agnostic and then he found Jesus through studying the passion of the Christ. In this blog, you’ll hear Brady’s story, discover Bible verses about why Jesus is the only way, and learn how you can share your story with those around you who don’t know Jesus yet. Let’s dive into this awesome testimony of the power of God.
Discovering God Through Jesus’ Teaching
While Brady was an atheist, he thought that those who believed in traditional religion were insane. Brady cared about the historicity of holy books. He was concerned about the facts, not just blind faith. He would debate his Christian friends and ask them, "How could Jonah have been swallowed by a whale?” "How could Noah’s family be the only ones to survive the flood?" These sorts of questions kept Brady in a place of skepticism, intellectualism, and doubt towards Christians.
However, during his college years, more pressing questions about the existence of God began to flood his mind. Brady found himself wrestling with curiosity about God, and he started reading as many holy books as he could. He read the Tao Te Ching, the Bhagavad Gita, the Quran, and the Bible. After all his studies, Brady believed that there was a God, even if he didn't know who he was.
Despite knowing a bunch of information about other religions, Brady just couldn’t shake the teachings of Jesus. Though he believed that Jesus’ words were teachings at that time, and not the literal words of God, Jesus’ teachings led Brady into a deeper time of study around the Passion of the Christ. As he started reading about the crucifixion and messianic prophecies, Brady came to the conclusion that it made more sense to believe in Jesus than it did to deny Jesus.

Conviction in a Holy Moment
Shortly after understanding that Jesus’ words were more than just good teachings, Brady had a profound encounter with the Holy Spirit. Some people think that encounters with the Holy Spirit only look like tears or 'Holy Spirit goosebumps', but Brady’s encounter? He experienced a sudden, profound conviction from the Holy Spirit that stopped him from engaging in a sin habit.
Did you know that you have access to the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is available to all those who believe, not only for joy, comfort, and wisdom, but also to equip you with self-control. Messianic Prophecies Prove the Deity of Jesus
Have you ever heard the word 'messianic' before? ? How about the word 'prophecy'? Messianic means relating to or concerning the Messiah. Prophecy means a prediction. You can think of prophecy like a sneak-peek into the future, especially when it comes from the Bible. When you combine these two words together, messianic and prophecy, you get the phrase messianic prophecies. Messianic prophecies are all throughout the Old Testament, and once you see them, you can’t unsee them! These prophecies change everything and they point to Jesus as the only way when you read the Bible. Here are some examples of Messianic prophecies that will help you understand that Jesus is God:
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? - Psalm 22:1
This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way may seem like nothing at first. What does asking God if he’s forsaken us have to do with the deity of Jesus? Just wait until the crucifixion of Jesus. Psalm 22 was written around 1044 B.C., approximately 1077 years before Jesus was crucified. You can see that Psalm 22 is a Messianic prophecy as we read its fulfillment in the book of Mark:
And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? - Mark 15:34
As Jesus was hanging on the cross, He quoted Psalm 22. Everyone who was Jewish who heard Jesus say this would remember Psalm 22 and be thinking of the rest of the passage in their minds. Psalm 22 goes on to say things like, “I am poured out like water,” and “They cast lots for my clothing,”. Did you know that the Roman guards cast lots for Jesus’ clothing as He was drying on the cross? Jesus was proving that He was God in these messianic verses. Thus, Mark 15 and Psalm 22 are both Bible verses about Jesus as the only way!
Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. - Isaiah 7:14
Isaiah 7 is a piece of scripture that’s not only a Christmas Bible verse and a Messianic prophecy, but it also serves as a Bible verse about Jesus as the only way. Since the fall, humanity has always needed a savior, and this scripture in Isaiah gave hope for everyone reading to remember: the Messiah is coming!

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David - Luke 1:31-32
Most of us know this Bible verse about Jesus. But did you know that it’s also a Messianic prophecy from Isaiah? This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way is a scripture that shows us Jesus as the fulfillment of prophecies. How crazy to think that Jesus is humble enough to come to earth as a baby and live among us. He is so humble and kind.

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed - Isaiah 53:5
For our final set of messianic prophecies, we want to show you the connection between Isaiah 53 and the crucifixion. As our guest, Brady, was discovering Jesus, he was moved to faith by studying the Passion of the Christ. The Passion concerns Jesus' trial, death, burial, and resurrection. The book of Isaiah was most likely written in the 8th or 6th century before Christ’s birth, but Isaiah prophesied the gruesome death of Jesus and how He would bring healing to those who would believe.
For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sin - Matthew 26:28
This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way is directly connected to Isaiah 53. This piece of scripture, alongside the resurrection story, serves as the fulfillment of Isaiah 53. Because Jesus was pierced by the iron nails of the Roman guards, crushed by the weight of our sin, and miraculously rose again, we now have the forgiveness of sins through Jesus, our savior. Bible verses about Jesus as the only way help clear up confusion and remind us that Jesus is Lord and He is good!

Bible Verses About Jesus As God
As we’ve seen through our study of the Passion and a brief review of messianic prophecies, it’s safe to say that Jesus is more than a teacher and a prophet: He is God! Here are ten more Bible verses about Jesus as God that show us that Jesus is the only way.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6
This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way is a direct quote from Jesus Himself in the Gospel of John. In John 14, Jesus is comforting His disciples, knowing that in just a few days, He would suffer and die on the cross. Jesus made a way for us to be free from sin and saved from hell by giving His life for us. Thank you, Jesus, that you made a way for us all to enter into Heaven and be free from the weight of sin.
Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9
Bible verses about Jesus as the only way show us how simple it is to receive God’s love and His salvation! All you need to do to receive Jesus as God is to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe that He rose from the dead. Thank you, Jesus, that you made a way and you made salvation so simple.
Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” - Acts 16:30-31e
The Book of Acts is a portion of scripture that shows us several Bible verses that Jesus is the only way. Salvation is as simple as believing that Jesus is Lord, and you’ll be saved! When you surrender your life to Jesus, you receive His love, His light, His life, and His hope! Bible verses about Jesus as the only way show us His compassion towards humanity and His superiority over every other deity.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, - 1 Timothy 2:5
Bible verses about Jesus as the only way show us that Jesus is God, but they also reveal that He is our mediator and our advocate. Rather than being burdened by sin, judgment, and fear, we have Jesus to cleanse us from sin, mediate for us against judgment, and give us His love rather than fear.
I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. - John 10:9
This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way can seem a bit odd at first reading. Why would Jesus refer to Himself as the door? Because Jesus is the only way, He is the only door that we can enter and find salvation. There are many other religions, or many other ‘doors’ that offer us spiritual concepts or teaching, but Jesus is the only way to salvation.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. - 1 John 5:20
1 John was written by John, an apostle of Jesus Christ, who was one of His first disciples when Jesus walked the earth. This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way shows us that Jesus is the true God and He offers us eternal life. There are even Bible verses about Jesus as God that tell us heaven isn’t like we imagine, and that eternal life is to know Him (John 17:3).
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23
Bible verses about Jesus as the only way show us that salvation is a free gift. Thank God we don’t have to strive, earn, or perform for God’s love – we have His love before we even know it’s there. Before you were born, Jesus died for you! What greater love than to have someone give their life for you? And not only did Jesus give His life for you, He also made a way for you to be free from the power of sin and to inherit eternal life – free of charge, paid in full on His behalf.

Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. - 1 Corinthians 8:6
This Bible verse about Jesus as the only way shows us that God the Father and Christ the Son are one in the same. The concept of the Trinity can feel overwhelming to understand sometimes. But thankfully, as you read the Bible more, grow in prayer, and grow in Christian community, concepts like the Trinity will become easier to understand.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” - John 11:25-26
Our final Bible verse about Jesus as the only way comes from the book of John. Jesus is recorded saying to a woman, “I am the resurrection and the life.” When we believe in Jesus, we receive the promise of eternal life. Because Jesus rose from the dead, He proved that He wasn’t just human – He showed us that He is God! No one had ever resurrected from the dead of their own accord, but Jesus did. And not only that, Jesus gave us the power of the Holy Spirit to pray for others who are sick and hurting to receive health and freedom.
Conclusion
Bible verses about Jesus as the only way and Brady’s story of salvation are such great reminders that God can meet us anywhere. Whether you’re full of doubt, full of questions, or full of curiosity you can’t quite shake, Jesus is waiting for you with open arms. Come to Him instead of the world: He will meet you where you are. As you’re wrestling through passages about Jesus as God and praying to encounter the Holy Spirit in the middle of everyday life, Jesus is patient and ready to meet you. And the best part? The same Jesus who chased after Brady in college is chasing after you! It’s only a matter of time until you meet the living God, Jesus Christ, who is full of love and grace for you. Wherever you are on your journey, Jesus is excited to show you that He is God, He is the only way, and He is faithful to answer your prayers.
