Spiritual warfare is something that everyone, everywhere, will face in their lifetime. A common place that we experience spiritual warfare is in the mind. Bible Verses for Negative Thoughts
The Bible is full of scriptures for negative thinking. God’s word and God’s love are very strong, able to help you in your time of trouble!
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
God is so gracious to give us a sound mind through the power of the Holy Spirit. One verse earlier in 2 Timothy 1:6, the author of this Bible Verse, the Apostle Paul, invites us to pray for one another, and to stir up the gift of God through the laying on of hands. One of the best ways to get out of a negative thought pattern is to let someone know! Next time you are at Church, invite someone to pray for you and for your mind. Isolation empowers negative thinking, and when we step out in community, we decrease the influence of negative thought patterns.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. - Romans 5:3-6 NLT
When we encounter life circumstances that cause negative thinking and anxious thought patterns, we can rejoice in God as He develops endurance in us. Hope does not lead to disappointment. God is faithful to stir hope in us when all seems dark and to light up the dark night of the soul with His bright, perfect love.

This Bible verse is a prayer against negative thoughts – we are invited to think about the opposite of negativity, we’re invited to think about the good things! What is praise-worthy and excellent? When we interrupt negative thought patterns with a prayer to God instead, God hears us and delivers us. It is such incredibly good news to know that God is near to the brokenhearted and those who are crushed in spirit. Whenever you’re experiencing negative thought patterns, don’t forget to cry out to God rather than keeping all of your process in your head.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will. - Romans 12:2 NIV

Oftentimes, when we’re struggling with negative thoughts, all we need is the love of God to soothe our souls, calm our minds, and give us hope again. What Do I Do When Negative Thoughts Continue?
Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, negative thought patterns, overwhelm, and anxiety seem to continue. What do we do then?
1. We continue to invite God into our situation, staying faithful to His ways and continuing in prayer.
2. We invite those in our community to help us on the journey. God created us to live in a relational community that edifies, encourages, and helps us in our time of need.
3. We remember to stay humble and not be afraid to ask for help. Biblical counseling and inner healing are great ways to combat negative thought patterns and help us heal from unhealed pain and trauma.
